  Cults and Their Charismatic Leaders Part 1

  people know of many cult leaders’ and their charismatic personalities, with their fringe beliefs and lust for power and how they have inspired hundreds to follow their unconventional philosophies — with often-tragic results.

  charles manson, david koresh, jim jones, bhagwan shree rajneesh and others have gained international notoriety for exposing the dark side of humanity.. however what about the cults that went main stream.

  i guess we could throw in jesus and even adolf hitler.

  People know of many cult leaders’ and their charismatic personalities, with their fringe beliefs and lust for power and how they have inspired hundreds to follow their unconventional philosophies — with often-tragic results. Charles Manson, David Koresh, Jim Jones, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and others have gained international notoriety for exposing the dark side of humanity.

  However what about the cults that went main stream. I guess we could throw in Jesus and even Adolf Hitler.

  Jesus of course preach love, were has Adolf preached hate. So of course Hitler was far more dangerous. On the other hand how many millions of people have died in the name of Christ and his suppose followers?

  Bottom line is there are a lot of organizations on the planet today that are not thought of as cults. Yet if we went back hundreds of years and looked at their history, we would find that one person who started it all. This is especially true among religions.

  Martin Luther, Joseph Smith, Charles Russel etc. etc.

  The man is gone but his idea/religion is still here. That one charismatic person that started it all.

  Now these organizations boast millions of follows.

  How do these religions continue to grow?

  There are only 2 ways you can become a cult member. You join it, or you are born into it.

  The good news is, very few people are joining cults today. However the bad news is, because cult members are having lots of sex with each other, many cults still growing at an alarming rate of speed.

  The good new is the Jehovah's Witnesses are not one of them.

  Why? Three reasons.

  1. Virtually no one is joining this 1800's religion by way of the "door to door" or by their "incidental witnessing" program.

  2. Yes, lots of Jehovah's Witnesses are having sex with each other and babies are being born. Though there was a time this was discouraged because of the nearest of Armageddon. The vast majority of their young people are not staying in their organization.

  3. There are no more charismatic personalities, like they had in the first hundred years of their history (1875-1977). No more Russells, Rutherfords, or Knorrs. Instead of one dynamic person to stir the masses up, the have eight uninspiring, milk toast leaders.

  As the older ones die off trying to pass the baton of an antiquated religion to the next generation....we can only visualize a world hundreds of years from now, free from religious cults.

  my elementary school teacher, miss allen, gathered us in a circle just outside the classroom under overspreading limbs of a pecan tree.

  as she spoke, we all listened intently - the expression on her face seemed to say, "this is very important.".

  It's a shame that teachers are paid so little, many of them have more of an impact on kids than their own parents.

  Yes, maybe life is a lot more simpler then we think.

  I too believe our lives are "like a dream." I talk about this in my first novel "The persistent illusion"

  Expectation...free beer

  Reality

  There is only today and there is no free beer today.

  For the Jehovah's Witness that the only place true happiness can ever be is.... tomorrow.

  Did they use to applaud after reinstatement after being Disfellowshipped, but then it stopped?

  i don't remember disfellowshippings happening very often and announcements about being re instated but i think i remember that we used to clap hands if someone came back after being disfellowshipped.

  but then i think clapping wasn't allowed.

  am i correct in my recollections?.

  The real reason the clapping stopped was that even though say, the person was a child molester but liked in the kingdom hall the victims might feel kinda bad if now this guy was back in action....we don't want to upset anyone now do we.

  There are many....I just couldn't get my head around.

  These are a few.

  1. This blood thirsty god that had no problem killing/genociding men women, children and even their farm animals to made a point. As Delmar said in Oh brother where art Thou "Not the livestock!"

  2. 8,500,000,00 on the planet and 8,500,000 Jehovah;s Witnesses. He can only save one person out of a 1,000 and this is suppose to be some kind of victory for him? I would say numbers wise (if either of them even exist) Satan would be the winner in this match!

  Any other thoughts?

  i still like the commentary on the jw.org monthly’s, i can skip through some parts.

  but it seems like he is pushing too hard to put out videos and the quality is getting very low on the content..

  I agree, however as they say "you only one chance to make a first impression." and frankly if I was a lurking JW and saw him for the first time and his grooming I would think to myself this guy looks like "I don't give a shit" There is a reason why JWs dress up when they go to their meetings and in service....they want people to take them seriously. I'm not saying he needs to put a suit on, however how about running a comb through your hair and maybe something besides a T shirt.

  When I see all the Star War figurines and paraphernalia in his "Bunker" I think this someone who hasn't quite grown up yet.

  Sorry, but if your real purpose is to help as many people as possible out of the Borg and to make adult decisions in their lives, please look like one.

  I burned every bit of it (all thirty years worth). I didn't want any of that file information to fall into the hands a child or a child like minded person....were it might do some harm.
